EDD + CEAC = Small Business Success

Running a small business isn’t easy. But you don’t have to do it alone! Thanks to the California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC), small business owners like you can get the help to grow and succeed. The CEAC has been in partnership with the Employment Development Department since 1980, and it serves as an umbrella organization for local Employer Advisory Councils (EACs).

“Our business has been members of our local EAC for many years. This organization has provided many helpful programs over the years in legal updates, compliance and employee issues. The EAC has also directed us and facilitated in connecting with State agencies as needed,” said Laura Harris and Mark E. Harris, DDS, from Aesthetic Family Dentistry in Southern California.

With Small Business Week just around the corner, now is the perfect time to take advantage of this support! It’s a great way to celebrate your hard work and get access to workshops, seminars, and one-on-one help for EAC members. They explain important topics like employment laws, job training programs, and HR tips in a way that’s easy to understand.

No matter if you’re just starting your business, or have been running it for years, EACs are here to help you handle challenges, follow the rules, and grow with confidence. Getting support now can save you time, money, and stress later.

Mark your calendar! The CEAC annual conference is happening June 4-6, 2025, in Newport Beach. This year’s theme is Breezing Through Compliance Challenges. It's a great event for learning and connecting with other business owners. Register today!

“Running a distribution center is just like running a small business. Having access to workshops and seminars to keep me up to date with employment laws has been extremely helpful in my career. I look forward to attending the annual conference every year where I gain up to date training and recertification credits for my PHR [Professional Human Resources] with HRCI [Human Resource Certification Institute]. Thanks CEAC,” said Tisha Snyder, a human resources manager at a Walmart Distribution Center in Southern California.

Members also get access to an employer hotline, where you can talk to licensed attorneys when you need help. Plus, through our partnership, they can connect you with other helpful programs like payroll tax tips, benefits information, and job training services.

If you’re a small business owner, don’t miss out. Join an Employment Advisory Council near you and get the support you deserve. Let’s make your business even stronger this Small Business Week!
